Who doesn't want to save money?
Solar systems can reduce your hot water heating bill by an incredible 65% and can be integrated alongside your existing Gas or Oil boiler. Subject to survey we can supply and fit a second heat exchanger to your existing cylinder, doing away with the need to replace your existing cylinder, hence reducing the cost of converting to Solar!
Please contact us for details if this is of interest to you.
We also design and install rain-water harvesting systems.
On a recent project our client stated "Of all the renewable items utilised in his property he felt that for the small out lay the rain water harvesting system was the best".
The under ground tank holds 3,500 litres of rain water, used to feed the toilets, washing machine and garden taps it reduces his metered water usage by 70 percent!
As a company registered with the governing bodies of Gas and Oil (Gas Safe and OFTEC respectively) you are in safe hands, and as registered installers for Nu-Heat Under-Floor Heating Systems you'll get the optimum installation.
You'll also find us on the list of approved installers on the Grant website, Grant being our preferred boiler of choice being whisper quiet, reliable and fitted with a proven and tested Riello burner. The unique heat exchanger on Grant Vortex Condensing Boilers is covered by a 5-year guarantee. All other component parts of the boiler are guaranteed for 2 years from the date of purchase (excluding consumable items), subject to being installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. There are also optional annual, or 3-year extended warranty schemes available. On completion of the installation all Grant Vortex Condensing Boilers must be commissioned and registered online by completing the guarantee form located within the Homeowner Zone on their website.
Bathrooms
We offer a complete design and installation package, tailored to suit your budget. This includes plastering, carpentry, electrics tiling and of course plumbing. Working with Andy Tizzard we can produce the dream bathroom you long for, so dont settle for second best! An example of a recent project (before and after) is below.
What is pluming?
Condensing boilers operate at extremely high efficiency levels, producing cool flue gas temperatures, resulting in a ‘plume’ of vapour being visible at the flue terminal. This plume (steam) is a normal condition of condensing boiler operation and indicates the appliance is working efficiently. As an alternative to a low level balanced flue kit, high level, or vertical kits are available, which moves the plume to a higher level if the installation dictates.

Oil Tanks
Of all the properties I visit, the oil storage tank is probably one of the most neglected items. It's also one of the items that can cause the most damage. It's amazing the amount of people I meet who are under the wrong impression that if something goes wrong the insurance will pay up whatever. The fact is unless an oil storage tank is kept in good working condition and checked on a regular basis your house insurance may not cover you.
One environmental clean up in the highlands of Scotland, reportedly cost £36,000.00! Sounds scary but it's quite simple to keep legal, when we service your boiler a check has to be made on your tank. At that point, any faults and problems will be raised with you as well as being noted on the servicing certificate. The various options will then be discussed with you and hopefully a course of action decided upon.
If you are unsure of your tank condition or would like a replacement, please contact us for a free visit and quote. A full fire and spillage assessment will then be carried out, and the type and size of tank determined.
We often get call outs to boilers where the tank has run out of oil. Who wants to go out in the middle of winter to "dip" their oil tank?
Hence we offer an after sales fitting of electronic fuel gauges, starting from£180.00 fitted plus vat, dependent on distance from us.
These monitor the level of your fuel via a transmitter fitted to the tank transmitting to a receiver plugged into a convenient electrical socket in your property. They also serve as an instant indication of any theft of your oil. These gauges now come as standard on most of the tanks we install.
The greenish tint on the base to the above is what's left of a plastic oil tank after the embers of a barbecue set fire to the wooden shed next to it! The tank was nearer than it should have been so in turn exploded.
The oil tank on the above is a classic example of how not to support an oil tank. This tank is supported on a few breeze blocks and sticks, and to cap it all, is far to close to the properties windows. If it doesn't split it will probably fall over in time!
This oil tank, although providing cover for the chickens is another example of how a base should not be constructed! Although it's on a solid slab the base should be 300mm larger than the tank all the way round. In this instance the oil tank is over hanging the base.
Customer Testimonials:
Paul and his team's enthusiasm and willingness to please their client complimented with their professional, responsive and flexible approach, distinguishes them from other contractors.
Forest Homes (Leighton Buzzard, May 2008)
We have used P J Dennis Plumbing & Heating Services Ltd on several occasions to work on various plumbing jobs. They are always efficient, quick to respond & tidy, and do an excellent, professional job. Although there are more local plumbers we would never use anyone else.
Mrs Davies (Northampton, July 2009)
Dear Paul,
I would like to thank you very much for your prompt attention and help in sorting out the boiler and radiators. I appreciated the fact that you arrived on time, got on with the job and made such a good job of clearing up after wards. I will certainly recommend you.
Mrs Willis (Ampthill, October 2009)
Over the course of the last ten years, I have employed
Paul Dennis to carry out work on existing property & property under construction. He has installed an under floor heating system in a timber framed house, fitted and commissioned two gas-fired condensing boilers, replaced a vented hot water cylinder with a pressurised Nu-Heat Energy Master cylinder, installed a complete plumbing system in a new house (including sanitary ware, rainwater fittings, gas pipe work, etc.) and carried out routine boiler inspections.
Paul carried out all of these jobs to schedule, and I have been completely satisfied with his standards of workmanship. He has proved to be cheerful and easy to work with. Even the inevitable hiccups inevitably found in new-build projects did not unduly perturb him.
As a result of these experiences, I shall not hesitate to invite Paul to quote for any plumbing or heating work that I might require in the future.
Mr David Buckley (Milton Keynes, 15th July 2009)
Dear Paul,
I would like to thank you for installing our new Grant oil fired boiler and hot water cylinder. I was impressed with your teams efficiency. They worked tirelessly and quietly, sorting out problems when they arose.
They also found some related problems with the thermostat in another building which they fixed at no extra charge. Your quote was very reasonable for the work which was on time and on budget.
We are most grateful to you. The water is hot at last and the boiler quiet, what more could we ask for.
Best regards to you, Hayden and Ian.
Fiona O'Mahoney. (Wheathampstead, 28th August 2009)
Thank you for the work carried out in my home. Very professional, caring and effecient. I wouldnt hesitate to reccomend you. A breath of fresh air!
Alex Couper. (Silsoe MK45 4ER, 4th September 2009)
Paul
Thank you so much for all the help you gave us yesterday. It was 'beyond the call of duty' and I am very grateful. It must have been very frustrating for you.
We will be in touch with you in September 2010 for more help with our next venture.
Best wishes
Minty Sparrow (St. Albans, 24th September 2009)
Paul,
Thanks for a really good job, I would have no problem in recommending you to friends & family. Sorry it took so long to get the system free of air...crappy old system....we will replace it when we can afford it so please still quote us... as then we can decide if its something we can afford this year.
Since the system has been flushed and re-filled the radiators and hot water are a lot hotter than before, so not sure if it may have had an air lock all along and was not running at full efficiency?
Ralph & Johanna (Ampthill, February 2010)
I needed a new oil tank with an extended oil line. Paul, as an OFTEC registered technician, knew very much what he was doing and advised me accordingly. I was very impressed by his knowledge and his competitive quote. The installation took place promptly, with a minimum of fuss, no mess, and to my complete satisfaction. I would certainly use him again.
Gary Mitchell (Haynes, March 2010)
We're delighted with the new oil boiler, and the professionalism and care taken by you and your team in relocating it into the garage. Everything was left really neat and tidy, especially the back filling of the trench for the underground pipework, and the making good in the garage and the kitchen. I would have no hesitation in recommending you for other work.
Mike & Caroline Whitelegge
(Stock Grove, Leighton Buzzard, July 2010)
In my opinion, Paul achieved something few other plumbers have come near to matching. From quoting to completion he kept me advised of what he could provide, he offered reasonable and realistic alternatives, gave a competitive quote, stuck to schedules and finished ahead of planned deadline. The service was professional from start to finish and the job was done to an excellent standard and attention to detail. All in all leaving a very satisfied customer.
C.S (Ampthill, August 2010)
We are very pleased with our new Grant oil boiler.
Your punctuality was excellent, and your commitment to please the customer is fantastic. The politeness and friendliness of all your employees was excellent. Along with yourself please pass on our thanks to your team, Ian, Hayden, Shaun and Mark
Carole & Robin Curson (Greenfield, December 2010)
Paul,
Thanks so much for coming out to us in the snow last Christmas for a burst pipe. You really did 'risk life and limb' to get to us in a real hour of need. It was more than appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Many thanks again.

Paul is one of the encouraging new generation of plumbers keen to pursue and push new energy efficient and environmentally friendly plumbing and heating systems. Paul's thoroughness, quality of work and excellent technical back up are 100%. Paul has always been a faultless trooper in downing tools and coming to our assistance whenever the need has arisen. Without his commitment to the job our eco-house would never have been built. For all your heating and plumbing needs, Paul Dennis comes with our highest recommendation.
Thank you Paul!
Dominic and Nicola (Haynes, 12th January 2011)
P.S. He likes tea, one sugar!
I had been advised by an Oil Boiler Maintenance Engineer to replace our aging Trianco with a Grant condensing boiler. I found Paul’s name on Grant’s website; as one of those recommended to fit their equipment within our area. He was also the closest and I had already met Paul with his van demonstrating Solar Heating etc at Houghton Conquest Summer Fete in 2010. These factors together with future plans to extend my house (incorporating energy efficient technologies) meant that when my boiler’s heat exchanger sprung a leak (fortunately in our garage) I chose Pauls company for the job of replacing it.
Suffice it to say, I’ve not been disappointed. When the job was running a little late due to a tardy delivery of the boiler Paul and Hayden worked hard and ‘till late to see that we were not left without heating on a freezing cold evening. They returned the following day to finish the job in the light and to tidy up! I can recommend them for their professional mode of operation; their ability to communicate and to assist in decision making; their concern for detail and getting the job done to the best of their ability.
Geoff (Houghton Conquest 2nd Feb 2011)
Prompt response, excellent advice and great work, highly recommended.
(Karl Robinson 23rd February 2011)
We were impressed with the attitude and knowledge of Mr Dennis. Very helpful and professional.
(Liz Manning, Maulden, Beds)
We had an emergency repair that our insurers, Homeserve Plc were unable to deal with in an appropriate time, Paul came out on a Saturday afternoon and carried out the work.
(Damon Blakey, Ampthill Beds. 20th April 2011)
Excellent work and service, would highly recommend!
(Mr C Evans, Willen Park, Milton Keynes 25th April 2011)
Paul
Just a quick note to say thank you for the installation of the new boiler.
I must say how impressed I was from our first contact and your initial visit to advise what was needed through to quotation, advice, changes and installation.
It was a pleasure dealing with a "tradesman" who actually turns up when he says he will, on time and just gets on with the job (other than the tea) and keeps you informed of what he is doing and if needed the reasons why you need to do things a particular way.
To sum up, I can recommend you highly for future work to anyone needing their heating replaced. As they say a job well done even leaving the place tidy after each day.
Many thanks
Leslie Walters (Flitwick, Bedfordshire. 15th May 2011)
Paul Dennis is not just an installer of solar thermal but is also an enthusiast for the systems he installs and the environmental benefits they bring. From the first time we met Paul, when he came out to survey the job, it was clear that he was experienced in his field, and that he had all the right qualifications to do the job. There was no high pressure salesmanship but, instead, a friendly, two way conversation about our requirements and what Paul could do to fulfil them. We had been concerned about "plumbers" doing work on our roof but we needn't have worried. The installation of the solar thermal panels on the roof was very quick, neat and tidy as was all the rest of Paul's work inside the house (new hot water cylinder and pumping station). Paul also discovered that the thermostat on our hot water cylinder had failed (and had probably been costing us in higher oil consumption). The big question was how the system would work on start-up. At the time of writing, we have been running for just over 5 days and we have already clocked up 32 solar hours.
Our oil boiler has, so far, only fired briefly to top up the system, and that was after a very cloudy day.
We must say a big 'thank you' to Paul and his team, particularly Hayden, but also to Clive the electrician and Nigel the scaffolder. It was good to have a team who turned up when they said they would, who treated the customers like intelligent human beings by keeping them updated on progress, and who demonstrated they are truly professional tradesman.
The newly installed solar system is working very well and we are using very little oil for water heating. Even on dullish days, the solar heating system provides some background for the boiler to top up.
If you use Paul and his team to do a job, and we highly recommend them, please note that they love their tea and biscuits, so make sure that you are well stocked up!
Brian & Doreen Harrison (Tempsford, Beds 27th May 2011)
Hi Paul,
I just wanted to record our thanks for the great job you and Hayden did on our Nu-Heat solar installation. We know that it was quite a complex project and were very pleased with every aspect - from quote to the excellent workmanship and just the way you both worked. We have no hesitation to recommend you to anyone who is looking for a high quality job. So far the heat generated by the solar is very encouraging! Best wishes.

Paul and Haydn installed a lovely new Worcester combi boiler in my utility room to replace an old Baxi located in the loft. They also installed a new gas supply into my kitchen and did a number of other smaller jobs (like moving my water softener and washing machine outlets) which got added to the work that Paul had originally quoted for. Paul and Haydn did a GREAT job and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or use them again myself. They both care about the work they do, and it shows in the finished job. It was a pleasure to have them working here.
Mike Heden, (Ampthill 28th September 2011)
What a lovely bloke. Our hot water tank was leaking - I called Paul and he came out straight away. New tank arrived the same afternoon and he was back to fit it the next day. Arrived promptly, didn't make a mess, always had a smile. Genuinely concerned about making sure everything was as it should be, not just do the job and leave. New tank turned out to have a fault so he went to get a replacement and stayed late to fit it. Amazing! I'm keeping hold of his number!
Alison Wrenn (Shefford, 7th October 2011)
I must admit that, when our central heating system failed over the weekend, I never thought that we would have it up and running again by mid-afternoon on Monday! Doreen and I are very grateful to you for disturbing the day that you had planned and coming out and doing such a quick and efficient job on the system. The pump is now so quiet that I thought that the system hadn't come on this morning!
Brian & Doreen Harrison (Tempsford, 29th November 2011)
"The shower pump decided to stop working, along with the kitchen tap which began leaking. On the face of it , two small jobs which most trades people would not even consider returning your calls. Paul was not one of theses people, any size job will be looked at and a fair quote given. We arranged a date and time which was acceptable to all parties and I could not have asked for a better service from a very friendly individual. I would recommend Paul and I will definitely be using his services again in the future" Andy Smith (Flitwick, 13th Dec 2011)
Just a few words for your site to say how good it was to work with you and Haydn. I am pleased to say the underfloor heating system, air-source heat pump and solar thermal system that was completed in November without any problems continues to work satisfactorily. It was also reassuring that the domestic plumbing work was installed without any leaks - well done lads.
